This was a great project to be involved in, I made ten benches for the RSPCA education centre.
These were designed to be used as desks as well as benches, two I made taller for wheelchair access.
The benches are made using Oak, incorporating the brands colour scheme on the rails. The ladybird logo for the department ‘wildthings’ has been hand routered on each bench leg, and then painted to make it stand out. To ensure accuracy and repetition I made some jigs, and put a collar on the router base to help follow the profiles. For the construction of the benches I used m8 threaded inserts and hex bolts, a strong build allowing maintenance and longevity. The tops have rounded corners and round edges, so no harm can be done if any child should knock into one !
