Tea Table
Less is more with this contemporary spin on tradition. This hall table stands proudly on four tall, sleek, cabriole legs, with a fun burst of colour.
This was a joy to make, especially the cabriole legs. The fluid sleek design of the legs was achieved by cutting them out on the band saw using the traditional method, and hand finished with a sharp cabinet scrape. Cherry is soft to work with and looks great when polished bringing warmth to the grain.
Mustard coloured laminate is the contemporary twist on this traditional design. I chose the laminate for its hardwearing properties and ease of cleaning.
The ‘pie crust ‘ detail on the apron rail adds so much to the overall design, especially where it meets the legs creating the added style in construction
