Eames Cabinet

Commission, Wall Cabinet

After the initial consultation, it was decided to keep the style of this sunglasses case in keeping with the client existing Eames furniture. We hand-cut houndstooth dovetails in the drawer which opens on a push latch.

Roots

The client wanted a Sunglasses cabinet, I asked what furniture would be in the same room. They said an ‘Eames chair’, this was my inspiration.

Shape and Form

Adding details, we laminated the spines sandwiching Walnut around Maple then carved them to support the glasses. The main doors open on a push latch and have laminated shaped Walnut panels on them which is the nod to the ‘Eames chairs’
