‘Luggage’ Terry Pratchett

"I was given a project in where I was going to need something truly unique for a jewellery collection. We needed a character recreating from the Discworld novels by Terry Pratchett which was going to be given to his family and shown at his memorial. I contacted Howard and we met not long after, instantly me and Beth (the woman making this collection with me) liked Howard and knew he was the guy we'd been looking for; he understood what we were asking for and even gave us ideas on our very first meeting. Over the next 7 or so months we had long meetings where we would throw ideas around and nothing seem to be out of his capabilities. We finished our project and the chest that Howard had made was so good it almost put our jewellery to shame! his attention to detail is fantastic. That project has been the biggest commission of my life and I honestly couldn't be more pleased with Howard's skill, work ethic, and communication throughout the project. I'm also pleased to say Howard's "Luggage" chest is now in the offices where Terry wrote his books. I'm also having something made by Howard for myself now too. 10/10 - If I could give 11/10 I would."

Study / Oak Bookcase

""We had an Oak bookcase built by Howard a few years back and now wanted a study. His bookcase still looked like it was just installed, so we knew he was the right guy. We had an idea of the study in terms of layout, but we were not sure on design. As always Howard’s ideas and input made our study one of a kind exactly what we wanted. He bought round samples of the chamfer detail which borders all the drawers. We also had Maple inlay in the tops to add detail. His attention to detail is brilliant, and what a delight to work in this study every day. I am definitely a fan of all of his designs."

After meeting Howard it was clear he was the right craftsman for us. We couldn’t find what we had visioned on the high street.
Howard has a great vision and problem-solved our utility room giving us more storage and function, as well as a high standard in design and quality.
Our units have a traditional cock beading detail around the doors and drawers, the drawers are solid oak dovetailed and the internal of the units are also Oak adding a very premium vista.
Howard was very helpful in explaining everything and delivered on time, worked clean and his attention to detail is exceptional. We even had him back to design and build our boot room.

Hall Table

"I wanted a small piece of furniture for my hall way which is dark and in shadow. I came across Howard, he came to my house saw the area I wanted a piece making for. Straight away he began brainstorming ideas, such as – We could use a light timber and a Mirrored top to bounce any light into the room. I wanted something with detailing, so he put an inlay of rosewood in the top and made rosewood wedges for the tenons at the base. I then told him that this table had to cover a radiator. No problem he said. Thanks to Howard I have a wonderful traditional table, Which does lighten up my hall way and heat passes through the table also. I am very pleased with the enjoyable journey I had with Howard. "

Alcove Bookcase /Display Units

"Our brief was cupboards for the alcove unit to fit with the rest of the room, we had in mind what we wanted, we just needed someone who knew what they were doing to draw it, after having several carpenters around, we decided to approach a Cabinet Maker. We are so pleased we chose Howard; he blew our ideas out of the water. Nothing was too much trouble, and we even went to the unit to see them being made. Fitted bookcase/display

"We approached Howard with the idea of building a bookcase around our back door. He came round and discussed options he could do, we showed him some art deco knobs we had. He went away and designed a fitted bookcase and cupboards incorporating the design from the cabinet knob. He added a stepped detail to the columns and shaker doors. We wanted light in the shelving unit to display ornaments. He sprayed the internals a lighter colour so the lights would bounce – the lights are on the main dimmer switch of the room. His work is exceptional and adds quality to our room, we will be recommending him to our friends."

"Gifted Craftsman. My husband is always thoughtful with a catch phrase – ‘I need to think about that’. He likes quality and I like individuality. After months of my searching, we went to visit Howard Butler furniture maker. Coming out of his workshop my husband said ‘How did you miss him?’. I replied ‘Oh, were you impressed, do you want him to do our kitchen? Without any hesitation he said ‘yes’ and it was an excellent decision. Howard listened to what we wanted, came up with everything that we asked for, adding his own unique creativity. He communicated with us throughout the whole process taking out much of the stress and any issues were thoughtfully resolved. I have an amazing kitchen that is superbly made yet practical.
